The more I understand about medicine, the more I realized that there are too many medical conditions that can't be explained by basic medical sciences. We medical people labelled those as "idiopathy". Or just that I'm still too noob to understand *sigh*. Good thing is that some mysteries will automatically solved when I go further, while some will just remain mysterious. Ahh! Just my random ramblings after long hours of studies =D

This blog is kind of deadly. Not really because I don't have anything to write. It's just that there're too many of my thoughts which I can't share publicly. This place was suppose for me to throw anything which come to my mind, but there are too many factors need to be considered. Life is ironic.

Exam soon, So less time, too much to study. High cortisol level. People out there enjoy raya and holiday, but I had to lock myself in room to study. No big deal as I choose this pathway so I have to suck it up. But holidays make me wanna go home!!

The wonder of medicine to me is today I study study study till frustrated then I grumble. Tomorrow still got passion or "fire" to study again. Feel great when understand human body better and better everyday. Feel even greater when able to explain to someone regarding how his or her illness and body work. Feel greatest when able to help someone get rid of his or her disease or problem? Haven't really experience that =P

Study is fun, but exam is no fun. =.=

There is a person who never fail to relieve my stress or moody-ness. Thanks God I can find her to talk whenever I want. *She means more than everything to me*

Today am in very good mood.

Great pleasure talking to the patients in Community Clinic Mantin.

Practiced my history taking skills.

Saw how the technician run tests for full blood count, urine test, tuberculosis etc.

Learnt that history taking will be the 80% of my future lifelong career and I really need to excel in it.

Realized that actually there're advantages to study medicine locally since I wish to serve my own country.

I should master as many languages as possible and need to work on my cantonese language as well.

Medicine had been very fulfilling so far and I'm really glad that I stepped into the sea of Medicine.

But,

There's still something missing.

P/S: I'm not emo-ing. Just沉思。究竟还差什么？希望能为生活添加更多色彩。

Every exit is an entrance to somewhere else, quoted from one of my senior. However, my case is ain't really like an exit but a beginning of a new chapter. Am leaving to KL later to continue my medic journey!

Holidays were great because of the existence of busy school life. Gonna apologize to my friends here as my outings with you guys this time were very very few. You guys always in my heart I swear, but this holiday I'm more to stay at home and enjoy my nothing-to-do life. This holiday is more to my withdrawal from hectic lifestyle. Thanks for your time spent in the breakfast yesterday, am really grateful. I wish you people all the best in everything.

Beside a little bit unwillingness to leave home, I also quite excited about beginning of my new semester on Monday. Time to hardcore again. =X

Bye Kuching and my pals here. I'll be back more knowledgeably next year.

2 weeks of holiday left.

Actually, I'm kind of looking forward to new semester already. Cardiovascular system, one of my favoritism.

Went for a minor surgery to extract my wisdom tooth. The operation itself was not really that pain except the bone sawing part. Post-op is quite suffering though. Now, I can't laugh while watching comedies. Wanna eat good food also can't. Pain of healing I guess.

The surgery is a proper one. "Suction please," the surgeon kept repeating. Hopefully, one day I'm the one who is saying" Suction please" while holding a scalpel. Long way to go =D

The surgeon is a very nice guy. The way he communicated with me lessen my frightness. Doctor- patient communication skills, ESSENTIAL. I hope i learnt something. =)

Sem 3 sounds very fun to me. More clinical skills unit. Gonna learn how to do physical examination by systems. Really looking forward to it.

Dengue vaccine out soon

KUALA LUMPUR: A dengue vaccine developed by the Health Ministry and a private company is expected to be available soon,with the final phase of clinical trials to start thismonth.

This much anticipated vaccine, said to be the first in theworld, is set to become a medical breakthrough.

While there are a fewongoing vaccine development programmes, there has so far been no tested and approved vaccine for the dengue virus.

Director-general ofHealthDatukDr Hasan Abdul Rahman told theNew Sunday Times that the latest phase, the third,would target 1,500 subjects in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. The trials are jointly conducted by theministry and Sanofi-Pasteur, the vaccine division of pharmaceutical giant Sanofi-Aventis.

"Similar studies are being undertaken in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam. Because the scope is wide, we have broken it up into several trials."

It is understood that the first and second phase of clinical trials have yielded positive results. While the primary sites are in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Dr Hasan said smaller scale trials of the same study were also being conducted in the state hospitals of Perak, Negri Sembilan and Sarawak.

The University Malaya Medical Centre is also involved in the study.

Currently there is no specific treatment for the mosquito-borne disease. Until the vaccination is made available, destroying the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes remain the primary means of preventing dengue fever.

In view of the public health threat, the ministry had rolled out many campaigns to raise awareness and to curb the spread of the disease.

These included the "10-minute a week" campaign encouraging the public to set aside 10 minutes in a week to clean their houses and remove possible mosquito breeding areas.

However, Dr Hasan said there is a "laissez-faire attitude" among the public when it comes to clean-up projects.

Although there is high awareness of dengue prevention practices among the public, many are reluctant to participate in community clean-up projects

"Even as early as 2006 when the ministry conducted the National and Health Morbidity Survey, we found that many were aware of dengue prevention practices. About 82 per cent were knowledgeable on dengue transmission but only 14 per cent participated in community clean-up projects in their area.

"In fact, 21.4 per cent were never involved in such activities. More recent findings from community feedback also show a similar trend, that is, the knowledge is high but action is limited."

The public, Dr Hasan said, must realise that it is up to them to ensure the breeding places of Aedes mosquitoes are eliminated.

"It is impossible for the Health Department to check every single house in the country," he added.

The country recorded 45,901 cases last year, a 12 per cent increase and 134 people died from the disease.

For the last five months of this year, 8,496 dengue cases were reported with 13 deaths recorded.

An increase in the number of dengue cases were seen in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Sabah and Pahang.

Sanofi-Pasteur hopes to launch the vaccine in four years' time for priority countries with 100 million doses annually.

While dengue vaccine development has been undertaken by other research institutions and pharmaceutical companies, Sanofi-Pasteur's vaccine is the only one that has targeted the four different dengue viruses, said Dr Jean Lang, associate vice-president at Sanofi-Pasteur's global department of research and development.

"We were the first to invest in the R&D for a dengue vaccine in the 1990s and today this vaccine is the world's most clinically advanced dengue vaccine candidate.

"The scientific challenge was to choose the right approach to have a well tolerated vaccine that offers protection against the four serotypes of the dengue virus," he said.

Fifteen endemic and non-endemic countries have been included in the company's global clinical study programme which includes Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, Singapore, Vietnam, the Philippines, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Globally, 45,000 participants will be included in the clinical study programme.

Dr Lang said Phase I and 2 of clinical studies among children and adults have been evaluated in the United States, Asia and Latin America and efficacy results from a Thai study is expected to be available at the end of next year.

"We have observed positive results in our clinical trials. A balanced immune response against all four serotypes was observed after three doses of the vaccine.

"The vaccine is well tolerated with similar safety profile after each dose.

"We have no doubts that we will be the first to roll out the dengue vaccine within a few years."

About 2.5 billion people are at risk in over 100 countries.

An estimated 220 million people are infected annually and about two million, mostly children, develop dengue haemorrhagic fever.

Dr Lang acknowledged that it would be a challenge to make it accessible to everyone at risk.

In response to this global need for a dengue vaccine, the company is building a new vaccine production centre in France, he said.

It is intended to reduce the time necessary to provide access to the vaccine once it is licensed.

The centre is expected to be operational in 2014.

Dr Lang also said implementation of dengue vaccination programmes would face challenges.

"Creating vaccination policies as well as dealing with access and financing mechanisms for people most in need must be looked at.

"It is crucial for the public health community to work together to start preparing for vaccination programmes. We are collaborating with international groups such as the Dengue Vaccine Initiative to raise awareness and move dengue vaccination higher on the global health agenda," said Dr Lang.

好久没上部落格了，这个学期特忙，把所有时间都花在学业上。有时想想，每天读书到凌晨三四点也是一种享受。唯有奋斗，才能感觉到自己活着的价值。

想想自己刚踏进医学系所设下的目标，我也不禁微笑了。因为，我从来没忘了它。它也成了我奋斗的推动力。

我祈祷，希望自己能过这一关。

佛陀请保佑我和与我并肩作战的朋友们。

Study medicine anywhere (Change of Medical Act)

KUALA LUMPUR (March 10, 2011): The Medical Act 1971 will be amended to abolish the list of 375 recognised universities in 34 countries so that students can pursue medical studies in their preferred varsities.

However, in order to do this, they must first obtain the No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Higher Education Ministry and once they have graduated, they must sit for the Licensing Examination.

"Once they have passed (the Licensing Examination), only then they are qualified to be registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and practise in Malaysia.

“This is to ensure that they can function as a doctor with quality and credibility,” Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai told Dewan Rakyat today.

Liow said this in reply to a supplementary question from Dr Tan Seng Giaw (DAP-Kepong) who asked how the government ensures that all doctors, local and foreign graduates, could give quality service.
The amendment to the law is expected to be tabled in Parliament during its June session this year.

Liow said at the moment, there is a list of universities whose medical courses are recognised by the government that has been included in the Second Table of the act.

“But, with the rising cost of things, it is quite difficult to monitor the quality of medical studies offered by foreign universities on a periodical basis.

“This is due to the geographical factor, logistic and high cost needed to send our panel of examiners to these countries,” he said.

He said the decision was taken by the Medical Studies Recognition Technical Committee, which has previously formulated the Accreditation Guidelines of Medical Programmes, and other relevant agencies.

The committee comprised representatives of the ministry, MMC, Public Services Department, Malaysian Qualification Agency and Higher Education Ministry.

Liow also said another step to check the quality of doctors is by introducing a moratorium on new medical programmes in local universities.

Through this moratorium, there will be a freeze on new medical programmes in local universities for a certain period to avoid a surplus of medical graduates.

“We have a problem of teaching staff and training in hospitals. Now, we have 41 hospitals which accept housemen to do practical training.

“If we were to have more universities (offering new medical programmes), we will not have enough hospital to train the housemen,” he said.

The moratorium has been set up by the Higher Education Ministry with the input from relevant government agencies and was now in the process of improvement before it is approved for tabling in Parliament.

“The moratorium will take effect once it is approved by the Parliament later,” he added.
Liow said the number of medical graduates registered with the MMC has increased from 2,527 in 2008 to 3,150 in 2009 and 3,257 in 2010.

“The total number of doctors registered with the MMC as of last year is 28,904,” he said.
To another supplementary question from Datuk Lilah Yasin (BN-Jempol), Liow said the ministry does monitor the schedule of housemen in hospitals to ensure they are not overworked.

Among others, he said, housemen are not allowed to be on-call fo more than three times in a week.
When contacted Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Dr David KL Quek said the association has been privy to some of the amendments to the Medical Act 1971 and felt it was timely for changes to be made to it.

“The association supports the move as graduates from medical schools around the world will have an opportunity to return by sitting for the licensing exam that will scrutinise their theoretical and clinical skills before they are allowed to practise,” he said.

It is indeed a daunting task for the government to spend money travelling the world to evaluate the universities and this is an alternative to that, he said.

Local public university graduates are however exempted from this as they are under the government’s direct jurisdiction and monitoring, but the number of private medical schools sprouting in the country has to be closely looked at.

Graduates from these institutions too must be subject to the licensing examination to uphold standards in the medical profession, Quek said adding that it will take at least six to eight years to implement the licensing exam.

On the moratorium on intake at private medical institutions in the country as announced by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Quek said this too has to do with ensuring that the country has quality medical practitioners.

“There are about 42 medical programmes in the country, but the MMA and senior doctors are concerned if there are enough teachers for these programmes,” he said.

Quek said: "Even countries like the United Kingdom, which has a long tradition of medical practice, has 180,000 doctors and 28 medical schools serving the 64 million population. Their institutions have senior teachers and instructors."

"Here there are about 33,000 doctors in Malaysia serving the 28 million population, most are in private practice, so do we have enough teachers for the 42 medical programmes?" he questioned.
"Local public universities which have strong, skilled teaching staff and equipment in teaching hospitals only take in about 200 students a year, but some of these private institutions take in up to 400 students per year," Quek said, adding that some even take in students for foundation courses after their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

"We have asked the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) to come down on these colleges and ensure that they don’t over recruit students. We can’t let the quality of medical students be compromised by profiteering because the ones who will suffer in the end are the public and patients”, Quek said.

A third-year medical student reflects on a life-changing emotional experience

Dreams and reality are often very different things. As a medical student I imagined myself one day taking on the role of a gallant knight, a protector and safekeeper of the sacred flame of life, creating miracles and wonderfully healing the sick. I wanted to make a difference and save lives. A road accident during the summer holidays gave me a chance to live my dream - but it was very different from what I had imagined. This piece reflects on my experience, and on how a brush with real medicine has changed me as a third-year medical student at Monash University. The smashed machine was the first sight I encountered. A once fast, shiny road-bike now lay on the ground, a metal carcass. I remember running towards it, scared. Next to it a body lay still.

I had seen dead bodies before; cadavers allow us to release anatomical knowledge with the stroke of a blade; they are the ultimate learning tools. But what confronted me was no practical class - this was very real. I looked at the woman lying there. She was young, about my own age of 20, still with P-plates on her bike. It could have been one of my friends lying there. She was dressed up, perhaps coming home from a club somewhere, with makeup and nail polish delicately applied - real human qualities that gave a glimpse into a life that, only minutes earlier, was full. Draped over the top of a young human was viciously snapped; blood and vomitus overflowed from her throat onto her chest; her arm was destroyed. I knelt down beside her.

It was as if I was looking through her. I looked into her eyes but, quite simply, no one was there. Despite the horror of the scene, she looked almost peaceful. Was she just unconscious? Could there be a flicker of life still inside her? Was this my chance to save a life, to make a difference? What happened next was bizarre. I became machine-like, visualising a giant first-aid flowchart in my mind's eye, and began to apply my medical knowledge. Yet again the theory did not match the reality. My only previous attempt at resuscitation had been on a mannequin with a plastic torso and head. This woman had real lungs and a real heart. I turned her on her side and tried to unblock her airway; I had no gloves. Using a mouth-to-mouth protective device that I carry on my keyring, i tried to shield my hands as I attempted to scoop blood and vomitus out of her mouth. I then tried to give her air: "5 breaths in 10 seconds, and watch the chest rise", my training had taught me. But her chest did not rise. AT first I got angry and blamed it on the device I was using, but then I realised her entire airway was obstructed. I searched for a carotid and radial pulse but found neither - the beat of life had stopped. I tried cardiopulmonary resuscitation but she wasn't responding - it wasn't supposed to be like this. Yet I continued until I felt a gentle tap on my left shoulder. It was one of the ambulance officers - I had missed their dramatic arrival, hearing my own thoughts and deaf to everything else. Never before had my mind been so clear or sharp. My adrenalin level was so high that it took tactile stimulation to reawaken me to my surroundings - a feeling I still never forget.

Despite efforts by the ambulance officers, the girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was in the day that followed, spending time with my general practitioner, that I began to learn a little about what being a doctor really means. I came to him upset that someone had died, upset at how horrific it was, upset that I had failed, upset that I had done something that may have exposed me to to HIV, hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection, even upset that the damn thing was upsetting me! He sat and listened. Being able to speak to someone who had witnessed similar trauma was amazingly comforting. He told me that the three hardest things to cope with in medicine are death itself, the death of someone young, and the death of someone under your care. I had copped all three "right between the eyes", at a time when I hadn't the experience or the training to know how to respond or feel.

My GP had no magic pills or portions to rid me of the churning inside me. Nor did he need them - all I wanted was for him to understand what I was feeling. I was given an insight into what caring for someone really means. He reassured me that people don't expect doctors to be miracle workers - all a family really wants in this type of situation is for a doctor to "be there and to care". My GP suggested that I attend the funeral service if I felt comfortable doing so. He believed it would give me a sense of closure and that it would help me to be around others with similar feelings. I sat with him in his office after all his patients had gone home, looking through the newspapers for the funeral details.

I sat through the service and listened to the account of a life I knew nothing about. I looked around at the web of friends and family she had interwoven. I was now a part of that web - she had touched me too. At the conclusion I introduced myself to her father, and told him that his daughter did not die alone, that I was there caring for her. I told him that the last few days had taught me more about caring for people, and about being a doctor, than I had learned in all my days at medical school. I told him that I was there for him and his family. With that, the tall, lanky man hugged me tightly, crying and thanking me for being there, for stopping and bothering to care. It was devastatingly sad, yet enormously relieving, and I was proud. He wanted to care for me and to share his feelings with me, something I had not expected. The simple knowledge that their daughter did not die alone was comforting to the family. They knew that if there had been a chance for her, I was there to give her that chance.

I am starting to understand what being a doctor is about. To really care for someone connects people in such a wonderful way that it can even make death seem a little less scary. Sometimes just being there can make all the difference.

Dialogue:
Me: The kids are so rude and they never follow instructions. So hard to control.
Friend: Yea, next time if my kids are like that, I gonna beat them.
Me: When I'm small, if I happen to be rude, my dad will "shoot" me with rotan.
*Both of us kept quiet for 2 secs*

Reflections:
First thing that entered my mind after the conversation is the kids are lacking of parental care. Amitofo.

One of the reason the kids are being so rude and disobedient is because lacking of parental care. Parents played an essential role in moulding one's personality and the moulding should be started since one is small. I'm really grateful that I have strict parents and a lovely family. The kids are not as lucky as I am. C'est la vie! I really learnt to appreciate the people and things have I owned since I entered Medicine programme.

There a lot more reflections throughout this project which I decided not to disclose as I want to include them in my report. =P

Overall, I really enjoyed my community oriented project (COP). Plus, I have awesome COP-mates!

I close my eyes and I can see a better day.

I just can pray that the kids have a better life. Really thanks to salvation army in providing them shelter and food.

第一章，完！

   一眨眼，我完成了第一学期。虽然距离我的目标还很远，可也算是完成了我人生中的其中一章。我非常感谢家人给了我就读医学系的机会。经过这些日子，我更加肯定，我当初做了对的决定，而我对医学的热爱更加浓厚了。我相信，我的坚持和努力一定会结果。

   可是，我有一点遗憾。遗憾的是当初不好好努力读中六。遗憾自己发现得太迟。实不相瞒，我是在今年才决定要读医学系。在这之前，我毫无目标，也不懂自己想要的是什么。如果当初发现得早一些，并好好努力应付中六，也许我现在在政府大学读医学系，而不必花一大笔钱去念私立大学。因此，我从不曾因念医学系而感到光荣。对我而言，我能读医学系只是侥幸罢了。或许是上天的保佑吧。如果STPM成绩再差一点点，那就连医学系的门也进不去了。我也因此遗憾在大学里默默耕耘，不希望辜负家人对我的期望，希望凭自己的努力考取医学学士。

   当我一踏进大学，我就设了我人生目标。很简单的目标。就是日后要做个能干的医生或是人家常说的 competent doctor。我觉得如果考取医学学士，但又什么都做不到的话，那么文凭丢进longkang算了。这就是我努力的原因，我的推动力。我并不在乎人家比我优秀，我在乎的是自己做不做得到。

   回到遗憾的那部分。老实说，我不知道因该感到庆幸还是悲哀。悲哀的是，我给了家人很大的负担。而庆幸的是，我还来的及努力。我还没走上绝路，啊米陀佛。我相信，只要好好经营我日后的人生，我的人生一定会更美好。

   人家常问我医学难不难。我认为，什么科系都难。世上没有不劳而获的东西。为了应付考试，我把大部分的时间都花在读书上。人说平时不烧香，零时抱佛脚。但我平时有烧香，零时还不是抱佛脚，唉！也许我不够聪明吧。无所谓！我以后天的努力来补我先天的不足。我也在这学期里，学习如何用脑思考，真正理解讲师所传达的知识。医学也因此更加生动。但有些terminology还是得死背，比如说：hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyltransferase, 十种必需氨基酸等等。我相信到了第二学期的Pharmacology会有更多药名要背。

   最后，我想说的是，与其叫一个人努力读书，倒不如问问那个人的人生目标。因为只要有了目标，自然而然就有前进的推动力。

P/S: 我的坚持是因我的目标，家人，我国的healthcare而起。=D

Charity Home Visit - I'm a Blessed Kid =D

I went to charity home visit yesterday. By seeing the fate of those homeless kids, I suddenly feel that how lucky I am to be Liew Jun Yong. I got such a lovely home to grow up. My parents provided me a proper education. And lastly, I got the chance to pursue the course that I want. I'm seriously a blessed kid.

   Above is the group photo taken during our charity home visit.

   My batchmates and I were having great time with the kids. All we can do are just preparing food for them, play with them and raised RM1.1k for them. I really hope they were enjoying themselves with us. They have a tough life to go on and I really hope all our effort can bring a little enjoyment to them. 所谓的苦中一点甜。

   Once again, I want to say I'm such a blessed kid and so do you! Be grateful on what you had and live your life to fullness! =D

P/S: One of the kids told me that she want to become a teacher. And, I asked her to study hard =D

Dream? Decisions? Hard Works? and Success? =S

This post is dedicated to all my friends who are about to make big decision of their life or my friends who are doubting about the decision/pathway that they'd took or people who always lamenting about hard works never pay off.

Fear of failure is a big obstacle to success. All along our life, we are being told many negative things or opinions. My own experiences are being told that doctor are going to be overflowed soon, it's not worth to spend so much money on medical degree, and I might be ending up as a taxi driver with MBBS degree. Those words are sounded discourages, but I'm glad I made a decision to go for my dream.

We tend to doubt ourselves. We doubted on our own ability. We doubted on how far we can achieve with our hard work and determination. Maybe there are people who never doubt on their ability, but at least I did. Doubts sometimes changed our mind on doing some tasks or taking up some opportunity.

We should just try our best rather than thinking we can do it or not. Even if we failed after we tried our best, there is no regret. We learnt from trial and errors. We shouldn't be sad or depress and even thinking of give up when we failed a tasks. In fact, we should be glad because we learnt another way of how "not to do" something and we're one step closer to our success.

We tend to ask ourself: "if we put in effort, can we achieve our goal or not? What if we put in tons of effort but we fail in the end?" The thinking of unwillingness-to-sacrifice distanced us from our goal. Yea, I used to be one of these group of people but I've seen success of an individual comes with a lot of hard works. No doubts there are people who worked very hard but still a failure. Hard works not 100% lead to success, but all successes 100% come with hard works. That's the ugly truth of success. Take it or leave it!

Another thing is procrastination. I procrastinated a lot and somehow there's some sort of enjoyment when I procrastinating. But when I sort of done procrastinating, it's just feeling like oh my God and I'm in deep trouble. Procrastination is just like masturbation. At first, it feels good, but in the end you'll realised that you just f**k yourself. I'm trying to get rid this habit for now and at least whenever I on facebook, I'm reading my lecture notes at the same time.

I chose a path that which is tough. In fact, I think every path to success is tough. I'm enjoying my course and I think I love it even more compared to the time before I enrolled into my course. I'm glad I made this decision and I feel blessed as I'm given the opportunity. I do feel my course is tough on certain times. But I'll always remember, when life's tough, just HAHAHA! I'll face the toughness of life with optimism.

So people, when you have a dream and even it's the wildest dream on universe, just try your best to go for it. Leave no regrets.

P/S: I'm still a fetus developing in the sea of medicine. =P

End of Orientation!

Finally, I got some time to write some updates of my current life. Now, I'm officially a college-man and my life was so busy for the past 2 weeks due to the orientation. My group which named as One-United won as the champion among all the 12 orientation groups. Honestly speaking, all of us put alot of efforts on our orientation stuffs and we absolutely deserve the champion. However, the best prize that we won is our friendship and strong bond between all Group 1 members. Now, whenever I inside campus, I have a group of friends to tag along, have lunch together and discuss academic stuffs together. Life will be miserable without friends! Group 1 really cherished my life in IMU.

The photo above are group photo of us! I really had a great time with them! Crazy and fun stuffs that done by us include hang out at mamak stall until 2am, talk lame jokes, and even had our own karaoke session in PBL room! *LOL*

Beside Group 1, I also met many great and nice friends from my batch or my seniors' batch. So basically, I really enjoy my new life here!

Next monday, my class will be officially started. Really looking forward to it and I want to learn as much as possible to graduate as a competent doctor. That's my main goal in IMU. M210, let's work hard together and rocks the medical field!

   Hi, it had been 10 years you wrote this letter to yourself and surprisingly you still remember to read it. The idea actually came out from your mind the day before you leaving your home to further your studies. That's just a small reminder in case you'd forgotten.

   Well, how's everything going? I think you must be working very hard at hospital now. It's ok to work hard, but still, please allocate some times to relax yourself, spend time with friends and family like what I always did. You love them alot I know. Remember to take your family to vacationS overseas. I bold-ed the word ''s'' on vacation because I know you love to travel alot. Actually, me too! However, I currently don't have enough money for that. So, I counting on you ya! Paris is just nice for shopping of you and your lovely wife. Disneyland for your lovely kids. And nonetheless, Macau for your elderly. You know why they love Macau right? *Hi5*

   Oh ya! So now, you are owning a considerably luxurious car right? Something like Honda Civic I assumed. Well, I'm looking forward for you to change it to Mercedes soon. And, remember to take good care of your car. Just to remind you as 20 years old-ed you din't really take good care of 432. So, you're owning a terrace house somewhere at west Malaysia I presumed. Oh ya, make sure your house is equipped with home theater set, library for reading,  master washroom with jacuzzi, corner bar for your liquors and a well-landscaped garden. If your current house has not enough spaces for those, you may consider for changing it to a bungalow now. Just kidding!

   Since you are eldest among all your siblings or even cousins, so make sure you organize gathering for your family from time to time. What I mean is a big family gathering at least once in a year time. BBQ party at your well-landscaped garden sounds decent. Or a dinner at high-classed Chinese restaurant. The gathering must be like old good times and all of you must be enjoying it. Something like your family christmas gathering at Kedah during year 2008 and 2009. You did enjoyed karaoke dinner very much during those gathering I know. Still remember why you love Chocolate Banana Cake from Secret Recipe so much? It's because one of your uncle bought it for Christmas Cake during year 2008. It tasted happiness instead of weird banana mixed chocolate taste (according to some of your friends). If Chocolate Banana still available at Secret Recipe, go grab one!

   Just to remind you on something. Something that me and you will never forget for the rest of our life. Your family, which consists of my papa, mama, aunties and uncles, they are one of the major reason why you are success-ed. Year 2010, you got in IMU for MBBS and they gave you limitless supports. Be it financially or morally, it doesn't matter. Most importantly, they acknowledged us and gave us the golden opportunity to pursue something we wanted. For now, I only can pay back to them by studying hard. So, regarding financial and time-spending part, I count on you ya!

   Make sure you live without your belly now because it sucks. Oh, make sure you start to saving money for the educational fundings of your children from the first day they are made. Remember to send your boy children to piano lessons. It's because 20 years old-ed you feel kind of regret for refusing to learn piano during his young ages. He thinks guys who can play piano well are freaking awesome.

   About your wife, make sure she's hot! Yea, which guy doesn't like hot girls anyway? At least, 20 years old-ed you do like hot girls. For your info, definition of "hot girl" at your age of 20 are girls who are independent, sociable, polite, kind-hearted, caring, charisma, sweet and seldom cursing or grumbling. I hate girls who cursed alot. Remember to take good care of her, love her, cherish her and treasure every moments with her. If you still end up single at the age of 30, go bang yourself at the wall and try harder!

   Before saying sayonara, help me say congratulations to Dixon and Dr Onion when you're attending their wedding ceremony. Make sure you be the best men of these two buddies.

iPads to be Trialed for Use in Medical Education

Students commencing medical school and master's of medicine program at Stanford this year will all get an Apple iPad. The school is trialing a program to see whether the devices are practical to integrate into the academic curriculum. Please refer to HERE for the full article.

Interesting. iPads for medical education is very useful as we can cramp all lecturers' notes, diagrams or journals into a device. I ever read a medical student blogged about he used iPod touch for all his anatomy diagrams and presentations. I think that's pretty convenient.

Another important point, devices like iPads for education can save tree too! Say a big yes to paper-less education!

Warning: Park your car carefully!

Shit thing happened to me last Thursday night and it's so unpredictable. At first, I'm thinking of remain this issue as a secret, but I think it's better for me to share with you guys as an awareness to you people. Last Thursday, some uncivilized brainless brats tried to steal my vehicle. However, due their lack of skills or techniques (they're most probably non-educated and brainless people I assumed), they can't managed to start my engine and had to say "sayonara" to my lovely car. BUT! They spoiled my door lock! And yea, my car been sent to workshop to be fixed. I would like to dedicate the legendary "F" word to those brainless car stealer here.

Anyway, thing happened already and I have nothing much to say. Here, I wan to warn all my fellow friends who love to drive or forced to drive, you guys must be extremely careful when you park your vehicles. I had to admit I did some mistakes that day as I never being alerted when I park my car:

First, after I parked my car, I din't look around my surroundings and I straight away ran to food fair area for food. For your info, the incident happened at Kuching Festival.
Second, I parked my car at considerably dark place.
Third, I took for granted that the place is absolutely safe as I saw two "Polis Diraja Malaysia" patrolling at that area.

In conclusion, park your car at your own risk as no where is 100% safe. Those Kuchingnites who intend to drive to Kuching Festival, please park your car at bright places and avoid jublee ground if can because I parked there.

Unrecognized Degrees by BEM, 4 years vs 3 years Engineering

Degree not recognised

MY SON completed the Bachelor of Engineering programme with an established university in the Klang Valley and obtained an honours degree.

He recently applied for a job at a reputable engineering firm and was on the verge of being accepted, when he was informed that his degree was not recognised by the Board of Engineers, Malaysia.

We called up the board and it confirmed that it only recognises the four-year degree programme and not the three-year one.

This important fact was obviously not told to us during the time of my son’s registration at the university, when it should have been openly disseminated to all prospective students.

Why has this established university withheld such information from its students? Something is terribly wrong here.

Most universities that offer UK-recognised engineering programmes are for three years with an addditonal year for industrial training.

There will be many engineering students who will be graduating, but they will be unable to get jobs simply because of the board’s requirement.

I want parents of prospectve engineering students to know of this requirement which I think is totally unfair.

Is there any recourse for graduates like my son? Many parents like me have worked hard to save so as to educate our children, and we feel this is an injustice on the part of the university and the board too.

The degree of the writter's son above is unaccredited by BEM (all engineer-wannabes must know what is BEM) because it's a 3-years programme. That is because BEM follows Engineering Council of UK which you need to undergo 4 years of engineering education before you are qualified to register as a professional engineer. 3-years engineering degree may allow you to work as an engineer at private company but you can't become a professional engineer registered with BEM. All engineer-wannabes please do some researches before enrolling into your engineering course so that you can be a qualified professional engineer after you graduated. Movie : Inception

Plot:

The film opens with Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) unconscious on a beach. He is found by an armed guard and brought into the chamber of an elderly man, who speaks to him cryptically. Cobb is carrying a small metal "totem" and a gun with him.

The plot cuts back to reveal a crime inside a dream, performed by Cobb and his team, including a "point man", Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and an "architect" named Nash (Lukas Haas) who crafts and maintains the balance of the dream world. They are inside the mind of Saito (Ken Watanabe), who, unbeknownst to them, is aware of their deception and is "auditioning" them for his own crime.

The rules of the dream world are explained: if an individual is hurt in the dream world, they will experience pain in a very real sense. But if they die in the dream, they will merely wake up.

The team and Saito are brought back to the real world (in Japan), where they are joined by a mysterious device in a briefcase that injects "compounds" into their systems, lulling them into a shared dream experience. The team escapes with the appearance of having eluded capture by Saito, but Cobb and Arthur are confronted by Saito when attempting to leave the country. Saito convinces Cobb to take the job of "inception" (the implantation of a thought within a person's mind) by offering him a way to go home to his children.

Cobb recruits Eames (Tom Hardy), a forger who can shift his identity inside a dream, as well as a new architect named Ariadne (Ellen Page), a student who appears to be all but a prodigy at constructing dreams. While Ariadne trains inside Cobb's mind, she sees and slowly comes to understand what is haunting him: a vision of his deceased wife Mal (Marion Cotillard) that continuously disrupts his dream world.

The team's target for inception is Robert Fischer Jr. (Cillian Murphy), son of a late corporate rival. The idea is a complex emotional suggestion that will ultimately lead Fischer to disband his father's empire. To achieve their goal, Cobb's team will have to pass down through several levels, each a "dream" within the last. Time slows down with each level, as in 5 minutes of real time would equal an hour in the first dream, 10 hours in the next, and so on.

Because of the drugs used and the depth of the dreams there is state of limbo that will be entered if a person dies within this particular dream experience. The time within limbo is compounded so drastically that even a few moments of real time could seem to be decades.

We learn that Cobb and Mal spent many years in the limbo state, before coming back to reality as their "younger" original selves. They clung to "totems", tiny objects carried to remind the dreamer of their state. Mal's totem (which is now carried by Cobb) was in the opening scene and appears frequently. He suggests that in his dreams, it spins indefinitely.

Mal suffered a psychological breakdown after waking from limbo, convinced that the real world was still to come after her death. She leapt out a window with Cobb watching but unable to intervene, leaving the police a letter indicating her depression, and his supposed guilt. Cobb subsequently fled the country.

The team boards a Boeing 747 transporting Fischer, drugging him without his knowledge, and entering into a dream with him. They have help from Yusuf (Dileep Rao), the chemist who developed the compounds specific to the deep dream state they are attempting. Inside the first level, the team locates Fischer and kidnaps him only to be assaulted by a group of mercenaries created by Fischer's trained subconscious. Saito is injured badly, but not allowed to die for fear he would lose his mind within the limbo state. Eames takes the identity of Peter Browning (Tom Berenger), Fischer's godfather, to try and extract information from him. Eventually the team pushes down into the next dream level, while inside a moving van being chased by mercenaries. The second level is a hotel where the team lulls Fischer into their confidence, and convinces him that he must find out why his own right-hand man is turning against him. The third and final level is a mountainous compound where the "secret" is stored, and Fischer must break in to find it.

During the attempt to break in, Fishcher is killed by Cobb's projection of his dead wife, and is lost into the limbo state. Cobb and Ariadne follow him down in an attempt to salvage the mission. They are confronted by Mal, and it is revealed that Cobb knew an inception was possible because he planted the idea that the world Mal was in was fake, causing her to leave limbo in the first place. Mal attempts to convince Cobb to stay in limbo, but Ariadne shoots and kills her. Following this, Cobb and Ariadne are able to return Fischer to the mountain compound. When Fischer confronts his father in this dream state, he realizes that his father had wanted him to be his own man and make his own choices. During this time Saito has died, and Cobb remains behind in the limbo state to locate him and bring him back. When Cobb finds Saito he is now an old man, and the context of the opening scene is revealed.

Everyone wakes up, alive and well. As per his deal with the powerful Saito, Cobb is given leeway to re-enter the United States. He is reunited with his children. The final shot shows his totem, in mid-spin, beginning to wobble. The scene then cuts to black, leaving it up the viewer to decide if it's a dream or reality.

2009 Rating System For Malaysian Higher Education Institutions (SETARA 2009)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The MQA Rating System for Higher Education Institutions in Malaysia for 2009 (SETARA ’09) was implemented by using a rating mechanism to measure the performance of undergraduate teaching and learning in universities and university colleges in Malaysia. Although the SETARA ‘09 exercise is a continuation of the previous exercise, (SETARA 2007 using 2006 data), there are major differences as to its focus, composition of the universities and university colleges, its domains and measuring indicators.

The SETARA ’09 rating exercise was carried out between October 2008 and June 2010. Data collected and used for the rating was based on the year of 2009.

A total of 58 universities and university colleges participated in the exercise. However, 11 universities and university colleges were excluded because they are new institutions without final year students yet and have not produced graduates; do not offer undergraduate programmes; or they are non-conventional institutions for example Open Universities which may require instrument configured upon different criteria set.

SETARA ’09 used a total of 25 criteria captured through 82 indicators comprising the generic framework of Input, Process and Output. Benchmark figures were established for the indicators. Data for the final analysis were sourced from the institutions as well as the Academic Performance Audit (APA), the Generic Student Attributes (GSA) test score, the Tracer Study, and the Employer Survey. The Committee used the Expert Choice software, which is a decision support system programme, in making decisions on the weights of the generic dimensions, domains, criteria and indicators.

The resulting rating system uses a six-tier category with Tier 6 identified as Outstanding and Tier 1 as Weak. The position of the universities and university colleges in the respective tiers was based on their scores.

The final results show that out of the 47 universities and university colleges rated, 18 institutions achieved a Tier 5 category representing approximately 38% of total population of universities and university colleges rated; 25 institutions in Tier 4, approximately 53%, and the remaining 4, in Tier 3, that is, about 9%. None of the universities and university colleges are in Tier 6; neither are they in Tiers 1 and 2.

PETALING JAYA: Complaints about bright students not getting Public Service Depart ment scholarships will soon be a thing of the past.

This is because the creme de la creme will get the money to go to universities.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced yesterday that all students who score 9A+ or higher will now be given scholarships to pursue their studies locally or overseas, regardless of their race.

In other developments:

> THE teachers’ union wants the Government to ensure that all scholarship recipients return to serve the country;

Looking Forward to Uni or Medic Life

Yea, I kind of secure a seat at IMU already.

I had to thank my family for all the supports given to me.

Finally, I'm going for medicine and I really can't wait to start my uni life.

Life of a medical student will be tough, but I won't regret choosing this pathway.

Medicine is my passion.

I'm gonna work seriously hard for it.

There is one more element that I want to add on this blog, which is my medic life.

So, stay tune for updates on my medic's journey.

And, to my friends/brother who are going for medicine, lets work hard together and rocks our medic's life!

Lastly, I really need to thanks my family once again for their supports. It's hard for me to express my gratitude orally. But I promise, I'm not going to let any of you down.

Shits happened!

As I expected.

I had enjoyed life for 20 years.

Never been serious on anything.

Now, started to serious as I found my passion on a particular field.

   My future pathway starts to reveal slowly by now. I secured a seat in one of the private university for the course I want. Currently, I'm still waiting for my last application to another private university which will be funded by scholarship. Really hope I can get it so I can pursue my degree without any financial burden.

   The result of local university released last Friday and I got being offered a ridiculous course which never crossed my mind in these 20 years. I actually doubt with the ridiculous U*U system which just simply "lelong" one's future. Thats not only happened to me but also my beloved post-STPM friends. They went through the hardship of form 6 life and yet can't get a proper course for them to pursue. Shits happened like biology students being offered a place for electrical engineering. Without any physics foundations at pre-u level, one will just suffer or drop out from a course which compromised so much physics application. And yet, electrical engineering is one of toughest engineering course. I highly doubts how U*U system is functioning. I finally know why people keep avoiding going to form 6 although form 6 is actually a good training.

   However, I considered myself as lucky one and I felt extremely thankful toward it. First, I am lucky to realise the sucky system of U*U very early, so I can ready myself many pathways to pursue good course at degree level. Second, I am lucky because I got letter from one government body which offered me scholarship to study at some private universities locally and some of them are well-known university. Third, I am lucky because one of the prestigious private university offered me a place for the course I wanted so much, so now at least I can pursue my dream although it will be very financially-burdened. If I don't have all those opportunities, Liew Jun Yong will be timber worker in the future! I'm serious!

   In roughly two weeks time, my university pathway will be cleared. I hope it will be like how I wished it to be. I really need lucks for this! Prayed hard and next update from me will be the time I know what's my actual pathway to my dream will be. =D

   I witnessed a car accident when I'm on my way home from my working place just now. Ya, its a major one. One of the driver fainted in her car. Stopped at the roadside to see what can I helped and it's nice to see that many people parked their car at roadside to lend a hand.

   Someone called up for ambulance. I can't do anything at that time. I wanted to help, but I can't. I saw people opened the car's door to move the injured driver out from her vehicle. But wait! How can they just simply move casualty like this. If she suffered from bone fractures, this will just worsen the situation. Maybe they should just left her in vehicle and waited for the ambulance to arrive? I think this should be done by professionals or well-trained people. Seriously, I think first aid course should be conducted at school level as it is very useful and important.

   Second, the ambulance of our government hospital are really LOW EFFICIENCY and SLOW. Its take roughly 25 minutes to arrive. HEY! 1 or 2 minutes already can kill, what to say 25 minutes? Plus, I noticed the ambulance is from another town (Kajang). This indicated that the whole Semenyih town don't have any government hospital. That's ridiculous! Oh well, who to blame? =D

   I seriously think that changes should be done. The word "low efficiency" shouldn't be existed in healthcare agency. In order to help or rescue people, I need the knowledge. And, I hope I got the chance to go deeper in healthcare field.

Its had been officially announced that Wong Ho Leng from DAP won in Sibu Election by majorities of 398 votes.

Congratulations to DAP in this election!

However, I'm not supporter of any opposition parties as well. I just hope that DAP's victory in this election will send a strong message to our government that if they wan victory in any future election, then give us a better Malaysia!

I'm addicted to One Piece recently.

Actually I have One Piece anime from episode 1 to 400 in my laptop for don't know how long already but I never bother to watch it.

Until recently, I finally start watching One Piece to "kill" my boring time here after my working hour.

And, this anime really ROCKS!

At first, I'm thinking One Piece is something like Dragon Ball which only provides fighting scenes. But, actually there are some many scenes in One Piece which are very touching!

All of the characters in One Piece have a big dream to hold on and fight for.

And I can't stop watching it! HAHA!

One Piece really nice!

I recommend it to all anime lovers!

   The world is very realistic and competitive. Employers only look for the best one regardless some facts that certain of category people get employed due to *censored*. Other than that, only people with first class degree , second upper division class degree or best graduates of the particular batch have more self-marketing value. Unless jobs like doctor, pharmacy or dentistry can actually be guaranteed a job after graduate (however, surplus of doctors in M'sia might be happening due to the mushrooming of medical institute in our beloved country).

   Things even go to an extend that not all degree or master degree holders can actually further their studies. Only the good results one will be selected and the moderate or mediocre one only has slim chances and not to say our beloved 3rd class people (still, some 3rd class degree holders in our country also can straight go for PHD due to *censored*). Scenarios showed that good results is actually very important and I think I am consider lucky to realize it before I enter university. My STPM result is mediocre and I still eligible to apply for the course I want which is a very competitive course in our country. One of the institute I applied actually called me up to inform me that they can't offer me the course straight away as my result is not significantly good as full As and they put me in waiting list. Maybe I should take it as a good news as they not yet reject me meaning I still stand a chance (although it could be a slim one).

   Recently, I personally met many types of people. There are people who actually strived very hard but can't achieve what they want YET due to some problems ( no luck perhaps ). And yet, there are people who always say they did enough already and leave the rest to God. Quoted from one respectful person of mine: "if you really want to study or go for something, there is not such thing as enough." Kind of frustrated when I heard about this at first because I actually the type of person who always say "cukup makan", but then I have to agree on it due to the things that I had seen, felt or happened to me. I might be secured a seat for my course already if my result is better than now.

   Made up my mind for not taking anything so easily anymore. No matter I'll be given the chance to pursue what I want or not, I will still try very hard to shine in my life. The word "cukup makan" shall be erased! Even though I might be still a failure after I tried, but at least I tried, and no regrets! First goal to achieve: GOOD results in my degree studies. I don't want the feeling of "floating in the sea which may sink anytime" anymore ( that's my current feelings daily).

   Don't ever strive for the sake of "cukup makan", and pray for "tak habis makan" because you might end up " tak dapat makan". "Tak habis makan" means "tak habis usaha" =D

P/S: I'm a smart ass. Just that I never tried enough.

   Without realization, its May already. I am closer and closer to my university life. I kind of selected the university to further my studies already and now I'm just waiting for the university to offer me a course. Hopefully is the course that I want because I don't really feel like going any other place. There are a lot of solid reasons for me to choose that university. Maybe it's not the best university for me, but it will suit me the most.

   My working life will be getting more and more boring as final year biotech students won't come the lab so frequently as they finished their research project and going for final year exam very soon. I wish them good luck here and really nice to meet them. So, most of the time I will be alone inside the meeting room to play facebook or facing my vanilla plants in the tissue culture lab. Maybe I should start talking and singing to those vanilla plant everyday and who knows one day they will respond to me? LOL! However, I still got whole bunch of post-graduate friends with me, if not my life will be really terrible. Plus, my part-time job at nottingham will end in roughly 1 month plus time! Then, I shall party for whole month before I enter university! YAHOO!

   However, when I back at Kuching on June, a fews of my close friends went off to further their studies already. Chye going to study at UTAR, Perak. Esther and Shin Hung might going to university as well around mid of May. So sad right? And yet I haven't receive any offer letter. Kind of worry now~ REALLY REALLY WORRY!

   Recently, I also think very hard what actually the career that I want in my future. I still stick to my original one but however I started to consider some alternative courses. Sometimes in life, we just can't surely get our first choice and thats why I started to backup myself with second or even third choice. I'll make sure I won't regret on what ever course that I chosen and I'll make sure I success in it.

   I'm actually not the type of person who aim very very high in my life (maybe this will causes me a failure in my life). I will satisfy when I enjoy my job in future with moderate payment, own a lovely family, with my parents around me always, own a small terrace house and maybe own a kereta buatan Malaysia (>.<) 人生短短几十年! However, things might change when I started my own family next time and maybe I will work day and nights toward a better life for them.

   I really hope I can get in university with the course I want and the most important is funded by government body called JPA. Why? because I will be very very RICH! LOL! *Joking* The actual reason is I don't feel like spending a lot for my own studies, so that the money can be used on my other siblings. Everyone deserves a dream. I got my dream, so do them. I too soft-hearted to destroy their dream by using up all the money for my own studies, maybe at a well-established university. And, I'm glad that one of my sibling moving toward his dream. Hopefully I can achieve that as well.

   I hate reading and study honestly at my secondary school years. Thats because I used to study for exam which is a wrong mindset. Study for exams is sucks and boring, but study for knowledge is really enjoyable. Currently, I enjoy reading articles about politics , health sciences and vanilla plant. I choose politics is because I love to readout issues or things that happened in our malaysia's management team. Health sciences is because I'm interested on that particular field. And vanilla plant is because I forced to do so! I started my part time job with almost no knowledge in plant biotechnology and thats why I need to do some readout to enhance my working efficiency. Basically, I won't go and google for plant's articles unless there's need arises.However, I do enjoy the feeling that I gained some knowledges after reading. I look forward to my university life's as I really feel like wan to study now.

   I had a dream. And I wish I have the chance to go for my dream =D

Once again, I need to leave my home to Kuala Lumpur.

People might wondering since I prefer to stay in Kuching, then why should I go back there again?

Plus, the job is consider underpaid.

Its actually because it's my responsibility to complete whatever the job or researches that I've started. Everything is half way to go and I just can't leave my job like that even though it's only a part-time job.

Another reason is my colleague treat me very well. They just like friends to me =D

Although I will be start missing my parents and friends very much when I at KL, but I have to complete what I started.

One random post by me as this blog serves the purpose for me to blog out whatever the things that I want to say. Today was as usual like my other working days except I met a new African guy and he quite amused me. Overall, he is very friendly and very open-minded. Its quite fun to chat with him although its the first time i met him at the university.

When I'm waiting for my aunt at the bus stop of university, he approached me and talked to me. Maybe he's just too boring to wait for bus alone, but I somehow noticed that western people got the culture that made them very friendly and they never shy to chit chat with strangers.

Our conversation are like this and I'm quite shocked to hear him asking me married or not >.<

A.G stands for that guy.

A.G : Hi, you are heading to Kajang is it? (The shuttle bus normally head to Kajang)

Me: No, I'm going back home somewhere near Cheras.

A.G: I think the bus just passed by right? Why you din't follow the bus just now?

Me: I waiting for my aunt actually.

A.G: Wow! You're waiting for your girl? Thats so sweet of that. (My feeling is like SWEAT. I think he misheard)

Me: I mean my aunt, not girl friend. =.=

A.G: I see. Then how old are you?

Me: 20 this year.

A.G: So young. Are you married?

Me: I'm single =.=

LOL~
First time in my life, people asked me whether I'm married or not! Maybe I should bluff him that time and says, "Yeap. I'm married at age of 12. My eldest son is now at primary school already." WAHAHA~

Then our conversation continued until we talk about girls.

A.G: Then do you like our kind of girls?

Me: Huh? What you mean by your kind?

A.G: I mean African girls. How do you think about that?

Me: (Laughing) Haha, I think I'd prefer Asian.

A.G: Me too! I was hoping to get a Msian girl friend. You think that possible?

Me: Not sure. I'm not girls. You can't ask me that question? Haha!

A.G: What Asian girl normally like? Do they like money? (Wow! Money. Is that an insult? >.<)

Me: Nah. Asian girls in the university are rich. I think they're more concern on how you approach them and how you treat them.

A.G: I see. I want to get a Asian girl friend before I get back to Africa.

Me: Good plan! Maybe I get a blonde too! >.<

He laughed. =D

Not bad our Asian girl. Can attract African guys!

I'm not sure why I can talked to a stranger for so long. However, I found out that it is quite enjoyable to chit chat with people from other country. They have different cultures, different thinking and different ways to approach people.

I met friends from Vietnam, China, Nigeria and African so far! Look forward to meet some blondes. MUAHAHA!

Honestly, my life will be miserable here without my new friends. Counting down to return to Kuching! Hooray~~

My IELTS written test are over! Overall, I judged my performances today as moderate only because I actually kind of screwed up the last part of my listening test. The speakers on the radio was quite fast and I missed out a fews questions (aikz! sakit hati whenever I think of this). Luckily, I'm able the do my reading and writing papers quite well, so I'd hope these two papers will put my overall band up. Monday still got speaking test to go and hopefully I can perform well on that particular day.

I need to achieve a particular band otherwise my 3 weeks of hard works and RM570 will be just like being thrown into the drain. However, I will always try to be optimistic even though I din't achieve the band that I want, because that's not end of my world. I still got my parents, brother, sister and my aunties with me! Since I worked hard, means no regret after that!

Disgusted:
On the other hand, there are things that disgusted me today as well! During my IELTS exam, there is a dramatic scene of 1 middle-aged guy (I use MG instead) unwilling to follow the simple instructions and rules. He responded rudely to the IELTS examiner. The dramatic scene is just like bellow:-

As we are not allowed to bring anything into the examination halls, we have to surrender our belongings to British council people before we enter the examination halls. However, this middle-aged guy refused to do so. He brought his bag into the examination hall and being stopped by an examiner (young Chinese guy and I'll use YCG instead).

YCG: (talked politely) Excuse me, sir. You are not allowed to bring any baggage into the examination hall.

MG: (replied in semi-shouting tone) No! I'm not going to surrender my belongings outside.

At then, MG walked away from YCG.

YCG: (Grabbed MG's arm) Sorry sir. It's stated in the conformation letter that you are not allowed to bring anything in except your I.C or original passport.

MG: (replied rudely in shouting tone) Hey! Dun touch me! Who cares about your rules.

YCG: No sir. Rule is still rule. If you insisted to bring your baggage in, I had to take it away from you.

MG: I don't care. Customer is always correct. You should respect your customer. I'm not working under you so why should I follow your instructions?

Then, MG walked away and started cursing: Stupid! Bodoh @#@#$#%@$@!

However, the head of examiner came across to this fellow and in the end he surrendered his baggage as well. BOO!

Don't you guys think he is making a fool of himself? All of these wouldn't happened if he willing to surrender his baggage in the first place.

Things that came across my mind at that particular time is who the f*** he think he is? Even though if ministers are taking IELTS, they also had to follow the rules and regulations. In addition of that, British council is just an agency for us to register our IELTS exam and they will conduct the examination for us. There is no such things as we are customer of them. We are all just IELTS candidates. So, the quote CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS CORRECT can't be applied on this case. Plus, when we talk about respect, we should respect other people first before expecting them to respect us. Respects are to be gained by our own =D

However, the main reason I blogged this incident out is because I noticed that many people can't even follow simple rules. This incident is just one of a little example. There are still lots of examples like motorcyclist riding on middle of the road although the motorcycle lane is provided, driver who overtaking at double-lined path and etc. We can't expect our country to be improved if we can't even follow a simple rule or instruction. To be honest, I personally dislikes to follow rules as well at sometime. But, I'm clear in my mind that I want to live in a place which is well-organized, structured and harmony. So in the end, I'll just play my little part by following the rules or laws. A country without rules or without people to follow the rules will be just like roads without traffic lights. All the processes will be slowed now and everything will be in a mess.

Plus, today's incident is witnessed by candidates from other countries. They might think thats our Malaysian's culture. Due a small minorities of uncivilized and selfish people, all of us get affected.

Maybe there are people who think I shouldn't bother on this as it won't affects me directly. However, I admit that I am the person who actually love my country as I spent so much time in here and I never plan to move to other country at the moment. All my beloved and dearest families are staying at here. I am the person who care about political issues in our country. And I do hope my country can be improved from time to time.

One of a reason that our country is still underdeveloped as compared to China is because there are too many people who don't even give a damn on what is happening in our country.

"Aiya! Sik peduli la! I ada nasi cukup la."

Thats the phenomena which is happening in our country now and I hope people at least go and read up the things that happening in our country.

Thats is just a simple thought of mine all this while. I do hope my life in Malaysia in the future will be better. Its not only for myself. Its also for my future children, my beloved families and friends. =D

First time in my life for watching movie in cinema alone.

Watched "How To Train Your Dragon"

The movie was awesome.

Overall, watching movie alone is quite enjoyable.

But, if I'm given a chance, I'd rather to watch with my friends and families. Share the joyfulness =D

Many parents bought their kids for the movie.

Its quite fun and enjoyable when we can spend time with our parents. Too bad I'm too far from home now.

For certain reasons, I kind of regret leaving my home to work in KL. Should choose to spending my time at home with my parents because once I step my foot into university, I might be having hard time to stay with them for long period anymore. Things may become worst when I'm out to work next time =(

2 more months to go home! I must endure till the end!

Really wish I'm at home right now =(

Things that I Want to Express

I feel that I'm really lucky to have my parents. Even though, they can't buy me a Nissan Fairlady or Mercedes for me when I just got my driving license, can't send me to UK for further studies, can't give me a platinum card for shopping. But, they provided me a good environment for growth, taught me to be a good one, and most important thing is tried to give me the best that they can. And, I just love them the way they are =D

Actually, I'm kind of frustrated and worried about my future. Trying to apply as many university as I could. Worrying that I can't study what I actually want to. I tried to imagine I take up other course and end up as other career. But the feeling is like, "HELL NO, I DON'T WANT TO END UP LIKE THAT!" Called up my mum and spoken to her. Very touching for knowing she so support me. From the bottom of my heart, I want to express my gratefulness and love to her. MUM, I LOVE U LAH! BEST LAH U!

I also kind of regret that I did some wrong decisions in the past. However, base on the situation at that time, I had to take up that decision because the other option is quite risky. But if I'd take up the risk, then now I will probably doing my degree studies and its fully sponsored (plus got pocket money). Sometimes, we just can't expect all things to go on smoothly. Life is simple but not easy.

However, I'm now been given a second chance to pursue my dream. Yeah, it can be fully sponsored and got pocket money as well. And I'm lucky that my STPM results which announced roughly 3 weeks ago allowed me for the scholarship and the course that I want. I quickly applied to be enroll into university A (not to mention the name later kena sue). But, I'm shocked when I get to know that there are almost 700 foundation students to compete with. The things get worst when university A gave priority to their foundation students first.This made me feeling worry and down. Feel like the world is going to end soon =(

Seriously, I really have to thanks all my family members on all the supports that given to me. At least I know, I am not alone.

I currently waiting for something that I really want which I got chance to get it, but also got possibility to miss it. The feeling is really sucks! But thats just part of life and I should be lucky that I still got the chance! OH YEAH =D

Honestly, no matter how sucks my situations are, I always feel that I'm so lucky to be born as LIEW JUN YONG which I own a whole family (including uncle and aunty) who always be there for me when I need them, guide me, love me and never left me out.

And to my best buddy a.k.a Onion, I really hope that you can pursue your dream. Wish both of us good luck!

11 hours more to get my STPM results.

I know that the result is already printed.

And there is no use for me to be nervous about.

But I'm just nervous!

我相信，所有STPM 2009的考生都和我一样，

十分紧张。

不知成绩会是怎样。

考不好，那人生目标便就泡汤了？

考得好，那又不一定得到想要的？

心理出现了很多问号。

感觉就好象浮在海里。

不知几时才能上岸。

分分钟钟又会沉进水里。

但是，

担忧和焦虑不会协助我得到我想要的。

不管成绩怎么样，

By the way, its my first Sony Ericsson Phone.

I used to be Nokia phone supporter all this while.

But then, i wanna try out new brand and I fall in love with the design of this phone when first time I saw it.

Plus, it got good camera which fulfill my criteria.

Went for a movie with my friends at MBO.
We watched Percy Jackson, The Lightning Thief.
The movie was awesome and quite hilarious on certain scenes.
Overall, I rated the movie as 8.5 out of 10.

I really enjoyed myself alot today even though its a tiring day =D
